The new 47-bedroom Ronald McDonald House, located directly across the street from the entrance to Rady Children’s Hospital. This amazing refuge for families sits atop a canyon-edge parking garage rooftop, of all places. We’ve quadrupled our capacity to house and care for families—we expect to serve 20,000 families each year. With our innovative Family Care Center, we can now offer a place to relax and get support during the day for anyone with a child in a local hospital. This 65,000 square foot facility will accommodate more families and better meet the needs of the community.
Since 1980, the Ronald McDonald House of San Diego has provided care, comfort and compassion to families with hospitalized children. Our mission: Ronald McDonald House Charities® of San Diego (RMHC-SD) provides a home-away-from-home for children and their families while the child is treated for serious, often life-threatening illnesses at San Diego area hospitals. The charity receives 10 percent of its funding from the McDonald’s Corporation and the local McDonald’s Owners/Operator Association. The remaining 90 percent needed to operate the house and serve families must be raised through donations from individuals, corporations and foundations. |
